Baby Girl's Nursery Reveal
Last weekend our friends hosted the most epic "baby shower" for us and I feel like I'm still recovering from it! It wasn't a typical baby shower of course- there was a bartender serving up stiff drinks (and mocktails), the most amazing food, and no detail spared. Everyone (including the gentlemen) wore pink and I wore a pair of 6 inch Louboutins $$$ with a $6 Forever 21 dress and flower crown. A good time was had by all and I'm still blown away by how generous and thoughtful everyone was!
I've been waiting to shoot baby girl's nursery until most of the finishing touches were in and I'd love to share with you all her new home in only 6 weeks time!
The concept for the room was what I like to call "colorfully feminine." I wanted her to have a neutral backdrop and solid foundational pieces that would be stylish enough to grow with her. Of course a mix of old and new, sweet and spicy, I put my all into this room for baby girl...
I've tried to include sources for everything that isn't vintage or from Homegoods (AMAZING source for baskets and storage essentials FYI).
I love that we were able to create a space that feels really custom but on a budget. My advice to anyone putting together a nursery is to start early, identify the major pieces you'll need (crib, glider, etc.) and don't be afraid to pull the trigger on something once it goes on sale. I don't think I paid full price for anything in this room...I scoured the internet until I could find exactly what I wanted on sale or free shipping, etc.
Putting together a mood board was also essential for me. If you just go out on Pinterest you will be absolutely overwhelmed by ideas. Sure, create a pinboard where you keep your inspiration, but don't be afraid to delete things from it as your tastes evolve and take note of the common things you're liking in all of your inspirational images. Also be realistic about your space- are you planning on living in your home for more than 5 years? Will this room always be a nursery even as you have more children or does it need to grow with your little one? Where do you want to spend your money- do "investment" pieces really make sense for a child?
I've had so much fun pulling together this nursery for my little girl, but I've also been so lucky to get to work with my friend who is due the same week as I am on her little boy's nursery as well! It's been interesting to see how similar ideas translate between the two rooms and how others just do not work!
This room faces East so it gets beautiful morning light. One of my absolute favorite things to do is sit quitely in here right after I get up and take some time to think about how much our lives are about to change next month. I've got a full heart for sure and cannot believe how amazing it is to be anything or anyone at all really : )
